The Mark 1 Deck Knife by Colonial is unique in that it has a black, polymer handle (trademarked as Tenite™).
In the early days, sailors would carry sheathed knives that they brought from home.In 1941, the U.S. Navy decided that a standard knife should be given to each sailor. Colonial Knife was commissioned by the U.S. Government to make hundreds of thousands of Mark 1 U.S. Navy Deck Knives with a molded handle. This is a very solid and useful knife, it is not just for show. The blade is just over five inches, and the whole knife is just over 10-1/2-inches. The blade is sharp right out of the package. The molded handle is made of a polymer making for a nice grip. Included with the knife is leather sheath with belt loop.The size and well balanced weight, it makes a perfect survival and camp knife.
